Win a chic Alessi kitchen timer from AllModern.com and Chronically Vintage!

To celebrate the fact that Chronically Vintage hit its 100th post yesterday, I’ve decided to hold my first giveaway ever on this site!

The fine folks over at home decor specialists AllModern.com have a super cute, mid-century modern inspired kitchen timer (valued at $68 US) to give away to one lucky reader of this blog. If you’ve never heard of All Modern before, let me tell you a bit about the company in their own words, “All Modern has a fantastic selection of modern furniture and home accessories from many leading designers. Part of CSN Stores, All Modern is just one of over 260 retail sites that offer a diverse array of products from Herman Miller’s popular Aeron Chair to cookware by Rachael Ray.”

I’ve been a fan of this site, which while teaming with very modern pieces (as one might gather from the name), also offers a range of retro and vintage looking pieces, for some time now and was thrilled to no end when they contact me wanting to know if my readers would interested in winning one of their wonderful products. Naturally I knew my lovely readers would be, so I jumped at the chance to offer you an opportunity to win an All Modern product.

Crafted by well-known Italian designer and architect Alessando Mendini, the sleek, whimsical timer that’s up for grabs here would be perfect not only in the kitchen but for any number of timed tasks around the house. I use my kitchen timer (which is nowhere even remotely as nice looking as this one) at least once a day, especially because the one on my stove doesn’t work any longer. This timer would also look beautiful simply as an object d’art in your kitchen or any other room of the house.

The timer (pictured above) is made of chrome-plated Zamak and ABS plastic, it’s a little under 5 inches tall and about 4 inches wide. It comes in blue, red or black and the winner will be able to pick which of those three colours they’d like to receive.

Please note, this contest will be open to US and Canadian residents, as the timer is being shipped directly from All Modern, and they do not currently ship beyond North America. I sincerely apologize about this to my international readers.

The contest will run until Tuesday August 25th at 11:59pm EST. One lucky winner will selected entirely at random the following day, and will be announced in a blog post here on the 26th. The lucky winner will then need to email me with their name and shipping address (and what colour timer you’d like to receive) so that I can pass your info along to All Modern, who will ship out your Alessi timer directly to you.

If you’d like to try your luck at winning this cool Timer (whose named is Anna, by the way), all you have to do is comment on this post and tell me your favourite recipe (vintage or modern) that you’d use this timer to help you cook, of if you prefer, your favourite use for a timer in general.

Good luck to everyone who enters - and thank you to all my amazing readers for helping Chronically Vintage to reach its 100th post. This blog would not be the same without you!

  1. Oooh! Mama like this giveaway! As a busy mom of 3 boys, I keep everyone on track by using a timer. That way they know how long they have to play on the computer, play cars, homework, clean up. I need this! Thanks for offering it!

  2. Congratulations on the 100th post! It goes fast doesn't it? I'm afraid the only thing I use a timer for is boiling eggs! Most of my cooking has to be done in under 15 minutes so I don't stray to far from the stove. :)

  3. Oh my goodness! I actually really NEED a timer! I roast chicken almost every week, and I even love to do my grandmother's beef roast recipe when I can. I used to use my cell phone as a timer, but I don't have the phone anymore. Now I have to remember the time and remember to check the time.

  7. Looks great,, I love how retro it is. I have to say my favorite recipe really doesn't need a timer, but I'd still like to have one! It's called an Icebox Cake. My mom used to make it for our family and it's very easy. The hardest part is finding sponge cake! I can't seem to find it anywhere, it I guess I'll have to break down and bake one when the weather gets cooler! Looking forward to 100 more!

  8. This sounds fantastic! I actually don't cook too often, but I do use a timer to get chores done around the house. I have a 10 yr old stepdaughter who finds washing dishes or sorting laundry just plain boring, but with a timer on, we usually race against each other. It will be more fun with 'Anna'... "Anna says you have 10 mins to unload the dishwasher...and...GO!"

That timer is fabulous! I would totally use it (besides all the time!) at Christmas when we're making all of those olaydi and pierogies! It's gotta be timed perfectly! lol

  15. What a great timer!! I love the little lady keeping me on track!

I would use it to make sure my muffins don't burn or to time myself with a 10 min clean up around my apt. Or both at the same time!!

  16. Cute photo! And picturing Ms. Stella trying to find the cool areas in the house. My little Floridian cats love the heat, it's funny but in the afternoon they love to lay near the window where the sun shines in or under the lamps for more warmth. I don't get it... But it's adorable!

  18. I love the look of this timer! Hmmm... besides cooking or baking...believe it or not...we would use a timer for our youngest son when he'd go in for a shower after a high school lacrosse or soccer game or practice! Otherwise, he would take for.ever. standing under the hot water! (since he's been at college...he has gotten better on his time :o)

so, since he isn't at home now and the fact that he doesnt get waterlogged any longer...I'd use the timer when I bake desserts (that I shouldn't be baking-since it is just my hubby and I!)

    Blessings & aloha!

Just found you and became a follower :o) If you get a chance to stop by my place, please let me know with a comment, so I know that you were there.

  21. I love it! I work from home and end up spending too much time perusing all these awesome vintage inspired blogs instead of doing what I'm supposed to. This would help me not to get too carried away.

  22. Oh, Jessica, how did I miss this! Yes, yes, please enter me in the drawing.

Well now..I must say this timer would be perfect in my studio or where ever I happen to be other than the the lower level where the washer and dryer are. If I don't set a timer when I come back upstairs from starting a load or clothes or putting them in the dryer...I totally forget it..LOL

Since I've only lived in this house since May of this year I'm still not used to having a lower level and it's just that "outta sight, outta my mind" thing. :0) So you can see I really need that pretty thing!!!!

    Wish me luck!

Come join me for my contest later in the week too. I would love to have you. Come and leave a comment so I know you came. I have them all the time at www.lilbitoldlilbitnew.blogspot.com or dublshot@comcast.net Kath'
