I created a Vintage Food Tag! Care to play along?

As the rather self-explanatory title of today's post sums up, I recently decided to create a fun vintage food related tag, which I answered myself in the YouTube video below.  :)

I touched on this in my video, but just to recap, I had seen many tags over the years, plenty of which related to vintage, but none that directly focused on vintage food. As I'm a huge fan of this topic (as evidenced by the many posts, recipe ones included, that I've penned on the topic here over the years), I thought it would be a blast to start a tag starring vintage food related questions.

If you'd like to play along as well, and I really hope that you will, you can do so either via a blog post and/or a YouTube video, so it's totally open to folks in either (or both) spheres.

Here, more or less word for word :), are the fifteen questions that I created, as they appear in my video:

1. What are three of your favourite vintage foods that are still around (aka, on the market) nowadays?

2. What is one of the vintage (food) brand that you like the most and why (do you like it)?

3. Do you cook vintage recipes sometimes yourself?

4. Do you have a favourite vintage recipe?

5. What is one of your most treasured recipes that came down to you through your family or someone else dear to you?

6. Who/what is your favourite vintage food mascot?

7. What is your favourite vintage decade from a culinary standpoint?

8. One or more great vintage store bought foods that you wish they'd bring back?

9. Do you ever serve vintage dishes for parties, holidays, or other special occasions?

10. And if so, is there one (holiday, etc) in particular that you like to make vintage dishes for above all the others?

11. Do you collect vintage cookbooks/recipe booklets?

12. Do you have a favourite vintage cookbook?

13. One thing that you think was better about vintage food/recipes?

14. And one thing that you think is better about modern food/recipes?

15. What would your dream vintage meal be?

♥ ♥ ♥

Of course, if you don't want to answer all these questions, but would like to share your replies for one or more of them with me, please feel free to do so either here in the comment section of this post or over on YouTube.

Fall really does equal the return of comfort food season, which was also a big driving force behind the creation of this fun tag, and I'm absolutely thrilled about that fact! There are several delicious fall and winter vintage recipes that I've been tucking away throughout the year to share with all of you here once the mercury plummeted and I'll certainly be doing just that in coming months.

Many thanks to all those who play along - be sure to share links to your posts or videos if you do so that I can check out and enjoy reading/hearing your answers to the Vintage Food Tag as well!

Tony returns, happy Labour Day weekend wishes, and TMI?

After nearly three months apart, my beloved husband, Tony, returned home from his action packed summer of working in the States on Thursday afternoon. We proceeded to hug each other like it was going out of fashion (we've always been giant cuddle bugs), then indulge in a heart feast of honey garlic chicken wings, melon wrapped prosciutto, late summer veggies, and GF marble cake with (fittingly :)) neapolitan ice cream to celebrate his awesome homecoming.

{Jump ahead a few decades, and this photo could pretty much have been Tony and I the moment his feet hit our entryway on Thursday afternoon! It is such a blessing and joy to have him home again and we're eagerly looking forward to making up for our summer apart by enjoying a leisurely long weekend followed by an exciting, action packed autumn. 1940s photo source.}

We both absolutely worked our tails off and our fingers to bone this summer, so we're taking things really, really easy this Labour Day long weekend. Catching up on some much needed zzz's, savouring one another's company, noshing on tasty leftovers, and just unwinding after a season - and the proceeding months of this year - that were immensely hectic, before launching into an autumn and winter that promises to be the much the same (and then some) - including plans for the second annual Vintage Secret Santa gift exchange here towards the end of the year.

As many of you know, one of the most exciting (and rewarding) highlights of this summer for me has been my return to making YouTube videos. Though, at present, I am not creating blog posts for each video that I make, I have been, and plan to continue sharing, sharing some of the videos that I create here on my blog so that you guys can catch wind of them, if you haven’t already done so directly on YouTube or via social media.

Recently I learned of the TMI YouTube tag and thought it sounded like a lot of fun, so I pulled by a chair, settled in, and plowed my way through the 50 different questions that this tag houses.

Despite it's name, the TMI tag is not so much about sharing scads of super personal information, instead its perhaps slightly misleading title is more about the sheer volume of facts and tidbits of info that one reveals about themselves and their lives in the course of answering these fifty questions. If you'd like to learn a whole lot more about me, including some (not to contradict what I just said about the questions in general) deeply personal facts about my past, please feel free to check out my latest YouTube video.

{If you haven't done so already, please be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel. I'm putting out new videos on a regular basis and have lots of fun, exciting vintage and autumn/Halloween related videos in the works for the coming season. }

It's hard to believe that we're already five days into September, but that we are and this coming Monday is Labour Day, which makes this a holiday long weekend! To all those who live in countries that celebrate Labour Day in September, I wish you a truly marvelous, fun filled, and hopefully (much as mine and Tony's is slated to be) relaxing weekend – and of course the same to those for whom it is simply the first (weekend) of the month as well.

I am so jazzed about autumn's (almost) return and the slew of posts, videos, and outfits highlighting this glorious season that I will be sharing with you guys in coming weeks and months - new outfits posts very much included now that I have my soul mate and awesomely talented in-house photographer home and by my side once more!

Happiest long weekend wishes, everyone - here's to a stellar September and whole sunny, gorgeous autumn ahead!

Guess who's (finally!) making YouTube videos again!

Around a year ago, for the first time in my life, I began making YouTube videos. Tony and I - he behind the lens, I in front of it, as per usual - filmed a few and then as we got busy with our awesome trip to Vancouver Island, another bracingly cold winter set in (we were filming our vids outdoors), and as life in general stole the show, YouTube got put on the backburner for me.

Well, no more...I hope! This week, for the first time ever, I filmed a little “I’m back” video myself using my Canon Rebel T5i camera. In it I expand on the points above, delves into some of my plans for my channel, and invites all of you to ask me anything you'd like to know or to suggest topics for future videos (which you are super welcome to do here in the comment section of this post, too).

I know myself, I know my health, I know the complexities of my life, and I know that promising you a new video on X, Y and Z days every month is a recipe for failure (to be able to do so) on my part and potential disappointment on yours, so I won't say anything that set in stone.

I will however give you my word that I have every intention to continue posting YouTube videos again on a considerably more frequent basis (in an ideal world, at least once a week - but again, we'll see, and I'm happy with pretty much any frequency that beats about 11 months since my last video, which was what this unplanned YouTube hiatus lasted for!).

Thank you so much to all those here who is already following me on YouTube and if you haven't done so already, please feel free to subscribe to my channel there.

Huge thanks, everyone - I'm massively excited to share lots of new videos there with you in the weeks and months to follow!

*PS* If you need more incentive to follow my channel, I will be wearing some outfits there - especially when Tony's away this summer - that will not be appearing (in the moment at least) in blog posts. So you can get more of my vintage style on YouTube - yippee! :)
