Tomorrow marks the intentional day of love, a time when those who are gripped by the spirit of amour (or even the mere notion of it) revel in the plethora of red hearts, romantic gestures, long stemmed roses, and boxes of chocolaty sweets.

As a lifelong fan of love and romance, I cannot help but adore Valentine's Day (perhaps I should mail it a punny card informing it of such ). At the same time though, I'm completely aware that it's not everyone's cup of tea (or should I say, flute of pink champagne).

As such, I won't drone about how delightful I think February 14th is, but I couldn't let this day of passion slip past tomorrow without sharing a handful of the Flickr images that I've been passionate about myself as of late. These images are beautiful, charming, and chocked full of the festive spirit that embodies St. Valentine's Day, and should appeal to one and all, no matter if you're a conversation heart die-hard or if you'd prefer that the calendar bypassed the fourteenth completely this month.

After all, whether your mind is filled with daydreams about a particular someone or you're blacklisting the notion of a day devoted to love entirely, I think it's a safe bet to assume that if you're reading this post, you have a pretty deeply rooted passion for vintage and that alone should be enough to help you enjoy taking a gander a few wonderful Flickr images on this, the eve of Cupid's busiest day of the year.

However you spend tomorrow (Tony - a fellow lover or love - and I will be spending every last moment together, complete with romantic gifts and a home cooked dinner), I hope that you have an absolutely beautiful Valentine's Day and that you get to enjoy being with someone you care deeply about, whether they're your significant other, a relative, or a cherished friend.

Vintage 365: Vintage Love Magazine cover sparkles with beauty and appeal

Take a look at this immensely pretty cover, illustrated with the utmost of artistic skill and teaming with enchanting vintage beauty, and tell me that magazines weren't about a billion times more visually appealing sixty years ago? :)

Though "Love Magazine" isn't a title that I'm very familiar with (I think it may have previously been called Love Novels), it seems to have been one of the plethora of glossies (of the day) that were devoted to fictional love stories (which it makes it all the more awesome this week, given that we're just three days away from Valentine's).

I Google the four writers names that appear on the cover, but my searches didn't turn up any pages that revealed more about who these women were (it would have been great to find out if any of those were nom de plumes!). If you happen to know more about Love Magazine or any of the writers mentioned on this cover, please feel free to share your knowledge in the comment section.

No bother in the least though, I always adore looking at vintage magazine covers (this particular one hails from the stellar Flickr stream of x-ray delta one, which is a treasure trove of awesome vintage images), even if what I gather from that cover page alone is possibly all I'll ever know about it. The artwork, fonts, and colours alone are priceless portals back in time to the years of the 40s and 50s, when gorgeously illustrated titles like Love Magazine could be found at any corner news agent stand, five and dime, or corner store.

Given the word printed on the darling pillow in this splendidly beautiful English floral print bedecked bedroom, would it be cliché to say that I "love" this classic, richly pretty style of decor?

Sizzling with rich, wonderfully saturated cherry red and crisp-as-a-new-snowflake white, this elegant, modestly adorned room (which I spied on UK home decorating magazine Idea Home's website recently) lacks for nothing - lest of all romantic allure.

With it's refined yet still wonderfully youthful floral patterned bedspread, pair of crimson swivel-neck lamps on the stepping stool style side tables, and marvellously lovely way of displaying decorative object on hooks on the wall, this room gives off a vibe that's equal parts of old school charm and modern romantic beauty (that would be so amazing to try and replicate for Valentine's Day!).

A Valentine’s Day postcard from my blogging vacation

Greetings, sweetest readers, how have you been lately? I really cannot believe that a whole week zoomed past this my last post. In the time since then I’ve accomplished some – but not all – of what I’d wanted to (as well as other things that I’d put off and suddenly realized I had the time to complete), done a lot of thinking regarding how to approach blogging in the future, and have also just breathed, allowing myself (for whom having idle hands never feels natural) to do nothing but relax here and there.

Last weekend I estimated that I’d return from my “blogcation” today, however some of my conditions are flaring up (not because I pushed myself too hard during my time off, but simply because no matter what, several of them act up every month due hormonal reasons relating to my monthly cycle) and I’m on bed rest at the moment. Thus, I’m afraid that I am going to have to tentatively extend my blogging break until this middle of this coming week (hopefully no longer than that!). Provided I feel well enough, I’m aiming to post the next weekly recipe this coming Wednesday – and launch back into more frequent posts after that.

During these days off I’ve continued to contemplate how best to approach the blog comment situation that had been weighing so heavily on my mind recently. I still do not feel like I’ve come with the “perfect solution”. As I stated in my last post, I think that I simply have to accept that I’m not always able to visit every one of the blogs of those who visit me (much as I truly wish I could, both because I want to say thank you personally for visiting my blog, and because I love and gather immense inspiration from your own sites). Yet, I will continue to try my best to get to as many as I can, when my health allows.

I want to extend my sincere thanks again to everybody who has provided me with their own insight and suggestions regarding this situation. I value and appreciate your wise and deeply caring words greatly.

(On a different note...) Tomorrow marks the annual day of love and romance. It provides us with an ideal time to pledge (or perhaps reveal for the first time) your adoration towards someone special, to reflect on past and present relationships, and embrace the joyful spirit that love inherently imparts to the world.

I realize that Valentine’s Day is not everyone’s cup of tea, but even if you can live without the flowers and chocolates, the cut-out tissue paper cupids and sentimental love poems, I hope that you’re able to join in the greater sense of amicability that February 14th represents.
