25 vintage deals under $100 for April 2014

Last month saw the introduction of a delightful new post series, 25 vintage deals under $100, here on Chronically Vintage. I'm pleased to say that many of you were fired up about the idea and that it proved to be a winning success all around. I'm thrilled about that and to know that a lot of you are as keen to find great online vintage deals (they still exist out there, I promise you) as I am.

Many of us in North America are either still in the midst of, or have recently done, our taxes. Not a fun time in the slightest, but a must for adults everywhere, unfortunately. As such, chances are you're really on the prowl for spiffy bargains at the moment and will enjoy this month's selection of twenty-five well priced vintage and vintage appropriate finds all the more because of it (and should you happen to be one of the lucky souls who got a return, instead of having to pay, perhaps you'll be keen to treat yourself to a little something extra special without breaking the bank and this post can definitely be of assistance to you there as well).

No matter how this year's taxes played out for you though, it never hurts to save a few dollars (or more!) wherever you can and as that is one of the key aims of this series, I look forward to bringing you new editions all throughout the year.

As I type this introduction, having diligently sourced the items for the body of post over the past few days, the very first sparks of morning light are flickering to life over the sand hued hills across the street. Birds are chirping like they're at a choir rehearsal, dew drops cling to the outside of the window, and my heart feels light and joyful about the fact that spring is finally here again at long last! A point which I couldn't help but celebrate with some of today's wonderfully easy on the pocketbook entries.

This month, with spring finally (hurrah!) underway again, and the weather belly flopping between exhilaratingly sunny and threatening-to-cause-a-minor-flood-at-any-moment rainy on a nearly daily basis, our thoughts are starting to shift once more (or on a grander scale at least) to the world outdoors, the season's first produce crops, and that the marvelous moment - usually sometime in mid to late May - when the rain is behind us once more and it's clear sailing on the weather front all summer long.

I know that in last month's initial post in this series, I said that I wasn't necessarily going to assign themes to each the way I tend to with, for example, Vintage Fashionista Friday posts, and that's true. I'm not saying there has to be a theme at work each month, but sometimes it does serve a post of this nature better to have one or more common threads running through it.

Thus, as mentioned before I launched into the selection of products featured here, many of the wallet friendly buys in today's post channel the spirit of springtime, Easter, and some of the many unendingly marvelous elements of this season that are well worth celebrating. What can I say, I'm a theme (and coordinating colour palette) driven gal who loves a well curated collection of related items! :)

Happy bargain shopping, my dears - and many wishes for an absolutely lovely first Sunday of April!

    1. Hi sweet Kim, ohhh, I hear you loud and clear there! I'm spending next to nothing on myself at the moment (this year, really), because my funds are needed in more pressing areas of my life, but I was majorly tempted to pick up a couple of these beauts myself too. So far I've resisted, but am seriously tempted all the same.

Big hugs & tons of joyful Easter weekend wishes,
      ♥ Jessica

  11. I really need more egg holders. I know, I have about a dozen, and we're a family of three none of whom eat soft boiled eggs however, they're great for displaying your decorated Easter eggs at the table (and on the piano, and the desk, and every possible surface that can be covered with decorated eggs).

I also like the vintage cards, though it would be awfully hard to part with them to send. Maybe for someone really special.

  12. Everything is so perfectly chosen! The vintage egg cups are adorable—I can see them above the fireplace or perhaps perched on a bookshelf as part of the springtime and Easter decor prior to popping eggs into them. That dogwood purse is beautiful—I'm a little surprised you did not snap it up yourself. ;) Great finds!

    Happy Easter!

    1. Thank you very much, sweet Jen, I hope that you and your family had a marvelous, relaxing Easter celebration. It was tempting (re: the dogwood purse) for sure, but I'm spending exceedingly little on myself at the moment (and likely this year in general), as I need to channel my finances into other areas of my life (other than my wardrobe, I mean), so I was able to muster the willpower to pass it up. it wasn't the easiest thing to though, that's for sure! :)

  14. No bargain shopping for me. No shopping at all for me. I must be good right now. I must! But if I was going to be a bit naughty that pink playing card holder would be mine. OK, maybe that beaded bag as well. And if that pink skirt with ric rac fit that would be mine too. Do you see why I just should not even look at pretty things. I have no will power! XXX

  15. While I don't necessarily have to worry about taxes (yet), I feel that people should be able to enjoy vintage without going broke, as well. These were awesome, Jessica. I see a lot of vintage Christmas stuff, but you totally nailed the vintage Easter/springtime theme, which I am beginning to love slightly more. Have a lovely Easter and a glorious springtime!!

  16. I really like this series. You and I both know there are still vintage bargains to be had online. It just takes a little sleuthing. I hope this series inspires more vintage hopefuls to keep the hunting online.

Hope you're having a great weekend doll!

    Lisa.

    1. Absolutely! Patience is both a virtue unto itself and something of necessity if one really does want to get the most bang for their buck in a lot of circumstances. I've often waited for months and sometimes even years to buy an item I was after at the right price and rarely mind doing so. The more I save on one piece, the more I have to put towards the next, a gift for a loved one, saving for a trip, or some other important area of my life.

Big hugs & many thanks for all of your great blog comments this weekend,
      ♥ Jessica

  24. This is one of my favourite post series in the blogosphere. You always create the most darling collection of finds! I'm particularly smitten by that very first purse and the amazing playing card case. I love a good round of cards, and a little accessory like that would make my card nights all the more elegant.

  25. The moment you mentioned taxes I died a little . Our current president made up 36 new taxes, so you can imagine!
I am actually awed at the vintage sewing pattern being a size 18, bust 36 well, I think I am a vintage size 18.
