Vintage Deal of the Day: December 4, 2009

{“Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul, with a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal.” Share one of the most beloved of twentieth century holiday tales (and Christmas carols) with the youngsters in your life, or relive this classic story for yourself, with this immensely charming 1951 Little Golden Book copy of Frosty the Snowman. This title can be yours for $5.00 (US) from Old Kitty - hurry though, much like enchanted snowmen, great deals on etsy have a knack for disappearing in the blink of an eye! ;D}

Absolutely gigantic thanks to everyone for your fantastic comments on Wednesday’s Seven Stunning Vintage Holiday Outfits post. It was an utter joy to put that piece together, gathering images and ideas for the seven different looks from across the web like a virtual stylist-slash-personal shopper. Not only was it one of my very favourite posts to date on this blog, but also one of the largest and most image bedecked. I had a thrill writing it and am even more elated to know that so many of you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for the wonderful feedback, everyone!

I realize that today is Friday (nearly Saturday at this point), and I just wanted to apologize for not getting to my usual “Five for Friday” post this week. I just wasn’t able to get one up today, and am very sorry about that. However, all things willing, I do sincerely plan to have a new edition of Saturday Snapshots this weekend, and in the coming days I’m going to begin putting up articles for my 2009 vintage holiday gift guide (which I'm sure will be a blast to write, too!).

Thank you again, everyone, for your marvelous comments! I will be stopping by to visit your lovely blogs over the next couple of days, and wish you each a truly magical and fun filled weekend!

  5. Aww! Little Golden Books! I saved my collection from when I was a child, to give to my son. A lot of my books had been past down to me as well. Every now and then I find a few at estate and yard sales or at Bookman's, our local resale bookshop. I continue to keep the collection of Vintage books and toys going for my son. I hope he will always have an appreciation for them.

  8. I used to have this book. All my Golden Books and my Dr. Seuss went to my cousins - and then dissappeared. Sigh. I wish my mother hadn't given them away. I'd love to have them now!

  11. Hi my wonderful dears, thank you each so very much for your comments! I was a big fan of Little Golden books as a child, too, and have recently started thinking that I should start up a collection of my own again, too - if only for the sake of the nostalgia they invoke :)

    Wishing you each a beautiful and serene evening!
    ♥ Jessica
