Dreaming of highways and cars and vintage suitcases {Found on Flickr}

The open road is an incredible place. At times lonesome, others crowded and frazzled. It calls and whispers, beckons and tempts, it is the beginning and the end.

After a week of heavy grey skies I awoke at 7:30 this morning to a stream of pale sunlight. Nostalgic light, the kind that takes you back to childhood summers and makes you long to go running to the nearest beach – or to head out for a weekend trip somewhere, anywhere.

But alas, I do not have a car and it’s far too soon to contemplate toe dipping – unless I want hypothermia. Instead I’ll live out my desire to heed the call of the road via Flickr images that invoke a very vintage feeling of driving, traveling and looking gorgeously well-dressed for the warmer months.

Ooohh, this a week of wonderful firsts for me! On Monday I tried my hand at Polyvore for the first time, and today I’ve begun playing around on Big Huge Labs. Both are proving to be oodles of fun!

  5. @ A red lipstick, you're welcome, my dear, thank you in turn for your's on mine :) I absolutely adore vintage suitcases too. I think they were build to design the inevitable wear and tear of travel so much better than many of the flimsy ones on the market today.

    @ Miss Red Lips, how cool, I'm really happy to helped inspire you. I plan on writing a post in the fairly near future on the subject of vintage/vintage looking bathing suits, so stay turned! :)

    Wishing both of you lovely ladies a fantastic Sunday!

  6. Dearest Jessica,

    I just LOVE this post! You are a very creative writer. I feel those nostalgic memories as I read your colorful words.

    And yes, I love those images, which I crazily collect on Pinterest. Just browsing through the many wonderful pictures makes me dizzy with happiness.

    I am dreaming of some kind of summer fun road trip. We had one planned for the 28 and 29, but - oh dear - my husband canceled it in an attempt to get a better deal, and now we are out in the cold, so to speak. Maybe something else will turn up. All things work together for good for those that love God! I can keep dreaming, anyway :)

    Love and hugs,
    ♥Hope

    1. Thank you very much for the immensely lovely compliment, dear Hope.

      I'm sorry that your road trip plans are currently up in the air and very much hope that you're still able to take a lovely trip this summer. Tony and I will be, if all goes to plan, zipping off for a holiday towards the end of the summer, which I'll most likely be announcing the specifics of around mid-August.

      Here's to a sunny, beautiful and very exciting summer, no matter if we're on the open road or staying put closer to home.

      xoxo ♥ Jessica
