It's always so lovely and encouraging to see photos of 'real' women, and be reminded that just like today, not everybody walked round looking like Rita Hayworth, especially in terms of hairstyles - as someone who frets over getting perfect vintage hair, in a way, it's comforting to see frizz and wonky victory rolls!

That said, all of these girls look impossibly glamorous and immaculate compared to the general public today! That 50s Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10945001167523108490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423410690702297063.post-33636479367396374532012-06-09T07:32:05.406-07:002012-06-09T07:32:05.406-07:00Jessica, thank you very much for helping out with ...Jessica, thank you very much for helping out with the information about Tumblr, you're a sweety!Pinup Stylehttp://pinupstyle.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423410690702297063.post-54350880141400297482012-06-07T18:44:55.295-07:002012-06-07T18:44:55.295-07:00Hi ladies, thank you all so much for your fantasti...Hi ladies, thank you all so much for your fantastic comments! I'm so happy you enjoyed this post and am thinking I might do a similar one featuring 1950s gals later this season (or next summer, if it doesn't happen this year).

@Pinup Style, Flickr is both a place to upload and share your photos and also to enjoy, and in some instances, use those that others have posted. Each Flickr user has the right to set their own permission levels, so not all images are usable, but many (especially those that are published under a Creative Commons licence) are (for personal use). A basic Flickr membership is free, and I highly recommend you join and check it out yourself.

Thanks again, ladies, tons of hugs to you all!
♥ JessicaWitchcrafted Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02992822472797191121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423410690702297063.post-19682097397718642982012-06-07T18:35:16.523-07:002012-06-07T18:35:16.523-07:00Jessica, those black and white photos you found ar...Jessica, those black and white photos you found are just beautiful! It's fascinating to see what these gals wore in everyday life, and even more fun to guess at the stories behind them: what was the occasion for the plaid dress with the capelet collar? How were that soldier and the girl next to him related? Would the girl in the plaid shorts and red lipstick be my friend, or am I not cool enough? The era seems so real through these snapshots!Rachel W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10208753701516539405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423410690702297063.post-66898877991867690172012-06-05T09:43:55.911-07:002012-06-05T09:43:55.911-07:00I have been slowly collecting vintage snapshots ov...I have been slowly collecting vintage snapshots over the years from antique stores and flea markets of everyday styles. I find it so much more charming in some ways (and reminds me a lot of the more relaxed version of vintage I wear on a daily basis) than the idealized images from those eras. I'm really loving some of these shorts outfits since mine have been in heavy rotation this year already. Those overalls shorts are really, really cute! Wonder if I could pull off a similar style with some pattern tinkering? ;)Caseyhttp://elegantmusings.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3423410690702297063.post-82043741923856437342012-06-05T08:14:39.956-07:002012-06-05T08:14:39.956-07:00These women all look so beautiful and classy.
