{Capture the timeless appeal of mid-century menswear inspired fashion - and channel your inner Catherine Hepburn - with this strikingly elegant ladies 1930s brown velvet fedora hat with a bold pheasant feather adorning the grosgrain ribbon band. $106.00 from Poppycock Vintage.}

{Adorn your ears with these charming little handmade burnt orange button earrings created using vintage floral print fabric, hypoallergenic steel posts, and plastic stoppers, that will add an upbeat splash of colour to any ensemble. $5.50 from Manhattan Hippy Vintage.}

{There's something about spring's gloriously pretty return that always puts me in the mood for wearing peach. I'm sure it has something to with the fact that in couple more months, the Okanagan's world famous peaches, nectarines and apricots will be ripe and ready to savour once again. For now, and the whole season through, I'll be reaching for plenty of pretty peach in my wardrobe and should you wish to as well, this absolutely lovely, casual chic Peach Keen Martha Blouse is the way to go. Available in (UK) ladies sizes 8 to 18. £33.33 from Heyday.}

{Sweet, cheerful, and wonderfully vibrant in the way that spring's attire should aim to be as often as possible, this great vintage celluloid floral brooch features two peachy-coral flowers nestled on a brown leaf and would awesome pinned to everything from a suit jacket to your favourite vintage hat, scarf or even handbag. $20.00 from (very aptly named) Peach Parlor Vintage.}

{Even if you're not much of a pants wearing kind of lass, every vintage loving lady's wardrobe needs at least one pair of old school inspired jeans for those times when wearing a skirt or dress simply is not practical, or when you'd prefer a change of pace - and of course, they're perfect for those who prefer pants the bulk of the time to begin with, too. Enter Heyday's Denim Swing Trousers. Cut and tailored like 1940s classic swing trousers, but in an industrious medium weight denim, these are the kind of pants that you'll wonder how your wardrobe ever got by without. Available in ladies (UK) sizes 6 to 18. £45.83 from Heyday.}

{My vintage jewelry loving heart skipped at least a couple of beats when I came across this gorgeous c. 1940s carved lucite bangle bracelet in warm shades of brown that call to mind everything from a tortoise's shell to a tall glass of root beer. It is so very pretty and would work awesomely in a wide array of looks from multiple mid-century decades right on up to today. (On sale at the time of writing for) $68.81 from Vera Mode.}

{Perfect to pair with the peach hued Martha Blouse above or sport with a vast array of other mid-century tops in nearly every colour under the sun, this alluringly pretty Brown skirt with Leopard Print Bow is sure to turn heads and bring in compliments wherever you go. In addition to peach, I'd especially partner it with mustard yellow, mint green, warm reds, aqua, turquoise, cream, soft pink, and pumpkin the whole year round. Available in ladies (UK) sizes 8 to 18. £25.00 from Heyday. $28.00 from Voyeur Vintage.}

{A cinch to dress up with (say, with a cocktail or tea dress) or down with your favourite pair of trousers, this elegant navy blue 1940s corde bag is one of those perpetually lovely purses that will never, ever lose its timeless appeal. }

{With warmer weather gradually becoming the norm again (if not already, then very soon), one cannot help but reach for footwear that lets at least some of their skin breath and make the most of the sun's soothing heat like this wonderfully classic pair of vintage brown leather wedges would. Partner them suits, skirts and trousers now, playsuits, shorts, and sundresses come summer. Shoes fit approximately a ladies 9/10. $50.00 from Guermantes Vintage.}

A little earlier this spring I had the great pleasure of welcoming one of my all-time favourite vintage reproduction clothing companies, Heyday Vintage Style, as a new blog sponsor. You may remember me discussing my love of Heyday's offering in 2012's post Ten of the UK's best vintage reproduction clothing sources, as well as other mentions and product spotlights here over the years.

An industry leader and producer of some of the best and most classic 1940s and 50s reproduction styles to be had anywhere, Heyday's quality, diverse range, and top-notch customer care have created scores of devoted followers, fans and customers the world over - myself very much included (in fact, I just ordered my second Fleur wrap dress this past February; their immensely darling limited edition Christmas patterned Baubles for Santa, which I can't wait to showcase in an outfit post here come December).

Reasonably priced in the vintage reproduction market, especially for those in the UK or elsewhere in Europe, but still accessible and within the means of many in other parts of the world, too, their garments (which are available for both ladies and chaps) are idea for helping to grow or further expand your mid-century wardrobe and really are enjoyable to wear.

I'd sing Heyday's praises to the moon and back regardless of if they were a blog sponsor or not, but the fact that they've recently become one seemed like the ideal time to put some of their offerings in the much deserved limelight again. Today is also the first time that I've skipped using a date (or name of a holiday) in a Vintage Fashionista Friday post title, which is something I think I'll continue to do from here on out. Instead, I’ll describe the outfit, theme, or some other element of the post, as I feel doing so will help make the titles sound a bit more catchy than just using the date. What do you think?

In honour of Heyday's vintage loving, hardworking and very knowledgeable founder, Shona Van Beers (who blogs at In the Heyday), today's vintage fashionista shares this same lovely name and is decked out in a springtime perfect 1940s ensemble featuring three Heyday pieces, plus a handful of other great products from various etsy shops.

The colour palette at work here is earthy and rich in neutrals, but is neither subdued nor lackluster in the slightest. Quite the opposite actually! It's vibrant, classic, fun and very easy to sport, much like Heyday's fashions themselves, come to think of it!

  1. Good Morning Jessica,

    Heyday is wonderful…I just popped over and browsed their site and will be browsing more later when I have time. I love it that they include larger sizes in their selections. We should all be able to look vintage pretty.

    And speaking of pretty, isn’t that model wearing those spectacular jeans just the prettiest, sweet looking, young woman?

    Yes, I agree with you about your title for your Vintage Fashionista Friday post…today’s title is more interesting than that with those with dates :)

    Jessica, thank you so much for your wonderful comment on my latest post. You are such a dear!

  2. I am SOOO glad I found your blog. You present exactly the information I most want, with beauty and entertainment on top. It's like you're my older, smarter, better-dressed, more knowledgeable about vintage-clothing and prettier sister.

  3. Swoon..adore...love! I want it all :) I too have enjoyed going to the Heyday website and dreaming of all the pretty clothes I SHOULD buy from them one day. Wonderful pieces you presented in the blog and I just might when I get back from Vegas scoop up that wonderful brown skirt with leopard bow. Cute with a side of sassy :)

    1. How fabulous, dear Kate!!! You're so (!!!) lucky to live in the UK, where such a great deal of the world's finest repro companies are located. I would likely own far more from Heyday (and other British repro brands) if I could shop in pounds. Even then though of course, these kinds of pieces are often investments, don't get me wrong for a moment, and I'm sure I'd usually be saving up right along side you. What pieces in particular are you eyeing from Heyday at the moment?

    2. I have been eyeing up a Mary dress for a long while, probably in navy. I am also keen on the twizzle dress in moss, the swing pants, maybe in denim and the green gingham blouse whose name I have forgotten. How about you?

    3. Terrific choices!!! There really isn't anything from Heyday that I wouldn't wear, but at the moment, I'd say that I'd love to get the Fleur dress in the black rose pattern (I have the white rose one, it was my first purchase from Heyday three winters ago now), a brown 1940s wartime suit (it would be quite the investment piece for me, if I did, especially given the conversion rate between Cnd dollars and British pounds), and some corduroy trousers in any hue, oh, and I certainly wouldn't say no to one of these timelessly gorgeous 5th Avenue coats, especially in bottle green or brown (*swoon!*).

      It sure is fun to daydream!

    1. She truly does!!! I've never seen a Heyday product that didn't appeal to me at a very deep, vintage adoring core level. I hope to continue to add piece from their wonderful offerings to my wardrobe as the years go on.

      Agreed completely, this palette is so evocative of those still chilly, but starting-to-spring-back-to-life days as one season trades place with the other that we're experiencing right now.

      Big hugs & tons of happy weekend wishes,
      ♥ Jessica

  7. I do love some of the pieces that they put out. Those jeans are exactly the kind of thing that I've been thinking about for the spring and fall. It's a bit pricey to get my hands on them here in the US, but I'm thinking it might be worth the investment.

  8. Hello gorgeous! Terrific round up, I do love it when bloggers give recommendations and links. I've bought some fab things that way. I adore Heyday! I discovered them some years back when Shona was selling in a tent at a vintage event and bought some trousers. I never looked back! Everything she does is quality and great to wear. Even though I do a lot of sewing I sometimes like to 'pay the man, or woman' especially when it comes to trousers. I'm after a pair of denim swings for the summer. xxxx

    1. Thank you very much, dear Ivy! I adore posts of this nature, too, for the very same reason. I've discovered some of my (now) favourite brands and sellers as result of them over the years. It's awesome that you've been able to purchase from Shona in person! I couldn't agree more with you regarding the quality of Heyday's items. I've had my first Fleur dress since the winter of 2011/12, worn it more times than I can count, and it still looks brand new and has held up incredibly well.

      Big hugs & many thanks for your great comment,
      ♥ Jessica

  11. I've always loved the looks of Heyday clothing, and you've got some splendid specimens in this post! (I'm not surprised-- you have magnificent taste!) I particularly like the denim swing trousers and the peachy blouse. Also, those cloth button earrings are adorable! I'll have to browse that shop a little later. :)

    Cheers!

  15. At the first mention I saw you make of Heyday, I went and browsed, but I felt myself financially safe because I don't buy new clothes except from ethical clothing companies. Then I read their about and their ethical information. Now I have no protection except my self-control, and much good that will do me!

    1. I admire your desire to only support ethical clothing companies a great deal, Tanith and love that you raised that point about Heyday with your comment here. Thank you! They really are a stellar brand that knows how to do everything - be it designing repro or having ethics that scores of others would do well to take a lesson from - right.

  16. The Denim Swing Trousers seem to be calling out my name …. what a marvellous pair.
    I am currently (again) trying to avoid jeans because everyone is wearing them and I want to stay apart but when i find items like this one, I just want to wear them over and over.

  17. I love how you mix up your sponsors with such a beautifully prepared and edited vintage article- your such a clever girl! I've been eyeing off a few Hey Days things for a while, and am only put off by the sizing difficulty of mail purchasing. I'm so short waisted and it's their blouses that I've been swooning over, but a blouse has fit just right or they look bad. Thanks for sharing such a beautful post. xx Shauna

    1. That's a wonderfully nice compliment, dear Shauna, thank you very much! I own one of Heyday's blouses (this one, bought well over a couple of years ago now: http://bit.ly/1mUPxD9) and can say that as a fellow short waisted gal, it fits me really well. It's cut in what in a much more vintage style and length and most modern blouses and I don't have any problem with its fits on my figure. I can't speak firsthand for their other blouse styles though (sorry).

      Big hugs,
      ♥ Jessica

  18. If I would not sewing all the time, I could spend my time in your blog, to find ideas, to watch beautiful things... like this trousers... thanks a lot

  19. I have to take a closer look at Heyday's website. And since they are in UK, I might actually invest in something, because then I don't have to pay annoying tax and VAT fees. This makes buying from the US very expensive. Thank you for another post with lots of lovely inspiration. The pencil skirt with the leopard bow is my favourite. :)
